Football: Chatsworth unleashes Tyger Goslin in 60-46 win over Viewpoint

A year ago as a sophomore, quarterback Tyger Goslin didn’t get to play for Chatsworth until October after sitting out the first month of the season following his transfer from Westlake. The Chancellors and Goslin had little time to adjust.

Now that he’s had a year of preparation, Goslin and the Chancellors are feeling much more comfortable on offense. Goslin had three touchdown passes and three touchdown runs in Chatsworth’s 60-46 win over Viewpoint on Thursday. He rushed for 182 yards.

Also impressive was running back Tawan Funches, who gained 181 yards and scored three touchdowns. Viewpoint quarterback Zach Chulak, a 6-foot-4 senior, had six touchdown passes and more than 400 yards passing.

Dorsey improved to 2-0 under first-year Coach Irvin Davis with a 20-19 win over Paraclete. Parie Dedeaux came through with the play of the game, an interception to preserve the victory. Next up is a tough road game against Trinity League power Santa Margarita.

Fairfax pulled off an upset with a 34-31 win over Carson. Obed Hernandez made a 40-yard field goal as time expired. Ramses Hernandez rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns.

Garfield handed the Marine League another defeat with a 27-14 win over Banning.

Taft is 2-0 after a 31-13 win over San Fernando. Chris Duncan passed for 183 yards and two touchodwns.

Arleta put itself in position for an unbeaten regular season after knocking off South Gate, 27-21. Isaiah Gable scored the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter on a three-yard run.

Crenshaw rolled to a 59-14 win over South East. Aundre Carter had a 30-yard touchdown run and a 55-yard touchdown pass. Marquis Lawson returned a punt for a touchdown. Crenshaw faces Hamilton next Friday.

Joseph Lewis had a touchdown and interception in Hawkins’ 18-14 win over Eagle Rock.

In a 41-22 loss to Hollywood, View Park Prep’s Kaleb Jenkins, a junior receiver, caught eight passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns.

Cleveland improved to 2-0 with a 44-28 win over Kennedy. Cristayne Macias passed for 261 yards and two touchowns. Isaac Garcia rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

Defending Division III champion Los Angeles opened with a 14-6 win over El Camino Real. The defense, led by Martin Andrus, left the Conquistadores struggling.
