Football: Mission Viejo is in Hawaii to open season on Friday

Share

Mission Viejo Coach Bob Johnson is already in Hawaii ready to prepare his team for a season opener on Friday against Baldwin.

The Diablos won the West Valley Division championship last season, and there’s no reason they can’t do it again.

Johnson’s grandson, Brock, is back at quarterback, and the Diablos will have strong play on the offensive and defensive lines.

They’ve been given a boost by the transfer of the Schooler brothers, Brenden and Colin, from Trabuco Hills. Colin is a running back and linebacker. Brenden is a free safety and receiver.

Don’t expect the Diablos to receive much competition against Baldwin, which lost its opener last weekend, 53-0, to Kamehameha.

But the Diablos can practice their surfing and work on their tan when not practicing football.
