Etc.: What is the impact of a losing trip? On Dec. 24, the Kings were second in the Pacific Division, five points behind the first-place Ducks and two ahead of the San Jose Sharks. Three consecutive losses out of the Christmas break have taken a toll. The Kings are now in third in the Pacific, nine points behind the No. 1 Ducks and a mere point ahead of the fourth-place Vancouver Canucks. Kings captain Dustin Brown and goalie Jonathan Quick were named to the U.S. Olympic team on Wednesday and Quick talked about the prospect of facing Kings teammate Drew Doughty, who is a lock for Team Canada. “That’ll be interesting for sure,” Quick said. “We played together for six years or so. We’re great friends. I think it will make it a little extra special. We kind of grew up together in this league … it’s really cool.” Three Blues players were named to the Olympic team for Team USA: David Backes, T.J. Oshie and Kevin Shattenkirk.
