AT THE PLATE: The Dodgers hit three home runs in their first 10 spring games and four in the first five innings Tuesday, with Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, Tony Gwynn Jr. and Aaron Miles each hitting his first Cactus League home run. Kemp, Ethier, Miles and Ivan DeJesus Jr. had two hits apiece; Kemp is batting .389 this spring.
ON THE MOUND: John Ely pitched three shutout innings; he has given up no runs, no walks and two hits in six spring innings. Hiroki Kuroda gave up two home runs — one to former Dodger Milton Bradley — and three runs in 4 1/3 innings of a B game against the Seattle Mariners.
EXTRA BASES: Kemp robbed Wil Nieves of an extra-base hit with a leaping catch at the center-field wall. Ron Mahay, trying to make the Dodgers as a left-handed reliever, gave up a mammoth home run to left-handed-hitting Prince Fielder.
UP NEXT: Jon Garland faces the Mariners and Doug Fister at Camelback Ranch at noon PST Wednesday.
