Clippers’ Darren Collison playing through painful toe injury

Clippers point guard Darren Collison said that if Chris Paul were healthy that “I probably would have sat out” instead of playing Monday at Detroit with a sprained left big toe that still “hurts” a lot.

But starting point guard Paul remains out with a shoulder separation, and the Clippers need Collison to run the show.

Collison said he wasn’t going to practice Tuesday, but “I’m definitely playing” Wednesday when the Clippers play at the Charlotte Bobcats.

“I’m trying to think positive,” Collison said. “It hurts, it hurts right now. I think it’s going to hurt for a while. So we’ll see.”

Collison was injured Saturday night at Indiana, but he played Monday in Detroit.

He missed all six of his field goals and had just four points, all on free throws.

Collison did have six assists.
