Trevor Ariza will join the Houston Rockets as part of a three-team trade also involving the New Orleans Pelicans and Washington Wizards.
Houston will send center Omer Asik, forward Omri Casspi and cash considerations to New Orleans.
Washington will receive center Melvin Ely and a trade exception as part of Tuesday's trade, in which the Wizards will sign Ariza before sending him to Houston. The Rockets also get forward Alonzo Gee, guard Scotty Hopson and a 2015 first-round draft pick from New Orleans.
Ariza averaged 14.4 points last season for Washington. Asik averaged 5.8 points for Houston, a year after averaging a career-best 10.1 points.
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors have reopened trade talks for All-Star forward Kevin Love, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Associated Press on Tuesday. Timberwolves President and Coach Flip Saunders was seen talking to Warriors GM Bob Myers in Las Vegas on Sunday as the two sides look to bridge the gaps that caused discussions to stall. The Warriors have been reluctant to include shooting guard Klay Thompson in any package, which has been considered a deal-breaker for the Timberwolves.
A person familiar with the negotiations says free agent Mike Miller has agreed to a 2-year, $5.5 million contract with the Cavaliers, reuniting him with LeBron James. Last season, Miller played in 82 games for Memphis, shooting 46% on three-pointers.
The Phoenix Suns have waived Ish Smith, reducing the crowd the team has at point guard. The move leaves four point guards on the roster — Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe, Isaiah Thomas and first-round draft pick Tyler Ennis.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed veteran free-agent point guard Sebastian Telfair, who spent last season with Tianjin Ronggang in China, where he averaged 26.1 points, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
