Eight NFL players subject to suspension for conduct during lockout

If NFL players got in trouble during the lockout, are they now subject to suspension by the league?

According to a Yahoo Sports report later confirmed by the Associated Press, eight players — among them Tennessee’s Kenny Britt, Tampa Bay’s Aqib Talib, Cincinnati’s Cedric Benson and New England’s Albert Haynesworth — are subject to suspension under the league’s conduct policy for brushes with the law during the lockout.

The other players reportedly subject to suspension are Cincinnati’s Adam “Pacman” Jones and three Arizona players: Clark Haggans, Brandon Underwood and Johnny Jolly.

The NFL and NFL Players Assn. previously agreed those eight players could be disciplined, the AP reported, while 25 other players who got in trouble during the lockout would not be.

Benson is appealing any discipline and has a hearing this week. He was arrested in July after an incident in which he is accused of punching a former roommate.

The NFL announced last month that Talib would not be suspended. He is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Haynesworth was indicted in April on misdemeanor sexual abuse, accused of fondling a server at a hotel restaurant.
