Lakers backup point guard Jose Calderon is doubtful for Friday night’s game against the Utah Jazz, the team announced. Calderon has been dealing with a left calf strain that has bothered him most of the past month.

“He was in practice yesterday. He said he felt good,” Lakers Coach Luke Walton said. “I think he’s going to come and do pregame workouts and call it from there.”

Calderon, 35, has dealt with calf injury issues in the past.

The Lakers’ other point guard — besides starter D’Angelo Russell — is Marcelo Huertas, who had five assists in 11 minutes during the season opener Wednesday. They’ve also been playing rookie second overall pick Brandon Ingram, normally a small forward, at the position, and plan to continue doing so.

There will be no change to the Lakers starting lineup from their win over the Houston Rockets. The Lakers will start Russell at point guard, Nick Young at shooting guard, Timofey Mozgov at center, Luol Deng at small forward and Julius Randle at power forward.

Friday’s game tips off at 6 p.m.
