Percy Harvin reportedly requests a trade from Minnesota Vikings

Percy Harvin appears, in the span of about 24 hours, to have gone from wanting to work things out with the Vikings to just plain wanting out of Minnesota.

Multiple sources are reporting Wednesday that the Vikings’ only proven receiver has requested a trade from the team, the day after the star receiver expressed frustration over several unspecified issues with the team.

Neither Harvin nor the Vikings has publicly acknowledged the trade request, but Harvin had plenty to say a day earlier as the team opened its mandatory mini-camp.

“I just put it this way, there’s a lot of different things that have to be sorted out,” Harvin said Tuesday. “Just haven’t been really happy lately. We’ve got a couple of things to work on. I’m here in the classroom. We’ll go from there.”

Harvin is coming off of both a career year (87 receptions, 967 yards and nine touchdowns) and off-season shoulder surgery.

The source of his displeasure is unclear -- it could have something to do with having two years remaining on his rookie contract or with the Vikings’ back-to-back last-place finishes in the NFC North. Or something completely different.

By the end of Tuesday’s practice, Harvin said he only wanted to talk about football and did not want to be a distraction. Pretty sure he can forget about that second part now.

Vikings Coach Leslie Frazier didn’t sound too concerned about Harvin’s comments at the time, although that may have changed in the last 24 hours as well.

“I really feel like when he and I sit down and talk in depth,” Frazier said Tuesday, “whatever is in his heart or on his mind, we’ll get through it.”
