Robert Griffin III, Chris Paul: Who’s your favorite ‘3’? [Poll]

Three is a magic number. Those of us who grew up on “Schoolhouse Rock” already know that.

Others have had to find out for themselves. Washington Redskins fans learned very quickly Sunday, when rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III completed his first eight passes as a pro, including an 88-yard touchdown to Pierre Garcon.

Overall, RG3 completed 19 of 26 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions for a passer rating of 139.9. He also gained 42 yards rushing.

Clippers fans learned the power of 3 last season when all-star point guard Chris Paul came aboard and immediately helped the team become a contender in the west. Paul is frequently referred to by the nickname CP3 -- his father and brother both have the initials CP, plus he wears No. 3 on his jersey.

Golf enthusiasts witnessed the magic of 3 back in 1997, when Davis Love III won the PGA Championship. Baseball fans from way back could tell stories about Hall of Famer Mordecai “Three Finger” Brown, a pitcher who really did have only three full digits on his throwing hand.

“Rocky III” was a box-office champ, and “D3: The Mighty Ducks” existed (not sure if anyone actually saw it though). That covers boxing and hockey -- and pretty much wraps up all the sports examples we could think of.

So who (or what) is your favorite 3? Vote in the poll, then leave a comment explaining your vote.

You don’t have to limit your votes to athletics. Feel free to pick any of our choices or write in your own, even “Three Men and a Baby” (although try to resist the urge to pick the pointless sequel “Three Men and a Little Lady” -- you’re better than that).
