Skylar Diggins in SI swimsuit issue: Do you approve? [Poll]

Tulsa Shock guard Skylar Diggins is one of the latest female athletes to pose for Sports Illustrated’s annual swimsuit issue.

She joins soccer star Alex Morgan, pro surfer Anastasia Ashley and a bunch of female models in the issue’s 50th edition.

And all the athletes look great, as one would expect of people competing among the best in their sports.

But that might not be the point for some folks, who may look at this as a setback for gender equality.

Sure, ESPN the Magazine has its annual “body” issue, in which athletes pose nude with only a strategically placed prop or two. But that issue features both male and female athletes -- if people’s bodies are being exploited, at least it’s both genders equally.

The SI swimsuit edition, celebrating its 50th year, seems to mainly focus on female models, with athletes (also female) thrown in here and there. And it doesn’t seem that muscles are what’s being highlighted here.

Of course, this may not be a big deal to some folks. Athletes like Diggins, Morgan and Ashley, put in a lot of work to stay in top physical condition. Why not show it off a bit? Plus, it’s their choice, they may find it empowering rather than demeaning, etc.
