The creator of "Dunk City" at Florida Gulf Coast University has come to Los Angeles and seems to portray the Trojans as the hip team in town.
The San Jose Mercury News reported that Enfield recently topped a team scrimmage at Galen Center and chided his players: "We play up-tempo here. If you want to play slow, go to UCLA."
First, he out-maneuvered UCLA Coach Steve Alford for assistant coach Tony Bland, who had helped procure the talent that revived San Diego Sate. Then, Enfield landed Jordan McLaughlin, a high-end recruit from Etiwanda High sought by UCLA, Etiwanda being former UCLA player Darren Collison's alma mater.
Now Enfield is portraying Westwood as being more AARP than UCLA. His view is the Bruins play with all the speed and quickness of John Wooden's statue outside Pauley Pavilion.
(For the record, UCLA players do not use walkers when running drills, nor do they use Mart Carts when shopping at the student store).
