Tiger Woods’ return to competitive golf didn’t go as well as he might have hoped. But there was a lot of improvement from Thursday to Friday. Still, the world’s best known golfer won’t be around for the weekend rounds at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego.

Woods shot a 76 in the first round and an even-par 72 on Friday. The cut was set to be even par with several players still on the course. It was Woods’ first competitive golf tournament in over 17 months.

Hole 10: Par 5 | 536 yards

Woods starts the day about the same way he played yesterday, missing the fairway. His first shot landing in the primary rough on the right side. His second shot, from the rough, left him with a pretty easy pitch to the green which he nestled to within 10 feet. He makes the putt and starts the day with a birdie. Woods -1 for round, +3 for tournament

Hole 11: Par 4 | 339 yards

A strong drive on this very short par four seems to be generating some buzz among the gallery. At this point, Woods would have to get to near even par, likely one under, for the tournament to have a shot of making the cut. But Woods wedge shot spun off the front of the green and he had to settle for a par. Woods -1, +3

Hole 12: Par 3 | 203 yards

It’s one of the tougher par threes and Woods didn’t help himself when he put his tee shot in the back greenside bunker. It wasn’t a bad shot, just a little too strong. His bunker shot came out strong and ended up about 38 feet past the hole. His putt came up about three-feet short. First bogey of the day. Woods even, +4

Hole 13: Par 4 | 459 yards

Woods finds the fairway with his drive and then follows with a nice approach that left him 12 feet from the hole. He gave the putt a good run but it hung on the left side and he had to settle for par. Woods even, +4

Hole 14: Par 4 | 451 yards

Woods hit his drive into the right rough but recovered with a second shot that hit the green and released and finished about 45 feet from the hole. Woods gave the putt a good effort but came up just a little short. Woods even. +4

Hole 15: Par 3 | 202 yards

The wind seems to be difficult to judge for many of the golfers today. Woods looked as if he hit the shot he wanted on this par three but came up on the lower ridge of the game. The pin is on the upper level leaving him a 35 foot birdie putt. He made a nice read but came up about a foot short. Grabs another par. Woods even, +4

Hole 16: Par 4 | 393 yards

Woods hit a great drive long and straight down the middle. But the wind was difficult to judge on his approach as he finished about 25 feet from the pin. He gave it a good roll and just barely missed the birdie. Yet another par. Woods even, +4

Hole 17: Par 5 | 520 yards

Woods hit his worst drive of the round going about 50 yards right of the fairway. His second shot found a greenside bunker and then he chunked the shot from there. He was on the green on the fourth shot making a three footer for par. Woods even, +4

Hole 18: Par 4 | 486 yards

Woods hits his fourth fairway, equaling his total for Thursday. His approach came up about 25 feet short. He gave the ball another good roll but came up a few inches short. With the current cut-line at even par, Woods needs a lights-out second nine to make it to Saturday. Woods even, +4

Hole 1: Par 4 | 421 yards

Woods starts his second nine by putting his tee shot in the left rough. The grass caught his club on his approach and he came up short of the green. He chipped on to about six feet and made the putt. Woods even, +4

Hole 2: Par 4 | 495 yards

His drive was right down the middle and his second shot was well played but rolled past the pin and stayed on the back edge of the green. Another good roll from about 25 feet that just missed on the left and turned to the right after the hole. Woods even, +4

Hole 3: Par 3 | 241 yards

A major misstep off the tee for Woods. He went with a three iron on this overly long and int the wind par three and came up about two clubs short. Woods then did a pitch and run to about five feet but then he missed the putt and with it any chance of making the cut. Woods +1, +5

Hole 4: Par 4 | 479 yards

Another good drive but Woods approach cut through the wind to go well behind the hole but still on the green. His two-zip-code putt slid past the hole leave him a five footer for the par. He makes it. Time is running out. Woods +1, +5

Hole 5: Par 5 | 525 yards

This is a hole Woods can get a stroke back so after a strong drive he went for the pin on his second shot. The ball landed hard and scooted off the back of the green into manageable grass. Still, an easy up and down especially after his chip rolled to a matter of inches. Easy birdie. Woods even, +4

Hole 6: Par 4 | 416 yards

Woods placed his tee shot nicely in the fairway about 135 yards short of the green. However, his approach came up short of the green. Woods hung his head after the shot, realizing he won’t make the cut. He pitched the ball to within a few inches to make his par. Woods even, +4

Hole 8: Par 3 | 214 yards

Woods hit a nice tee shot to about 15 feet on the final par three of the round. He missed the putt. Only one hole to go. Woods even, +4

Hole 9: Par 5 | 556 yards

Woods finishes with a strong tee shot, landing 233 yards from the hole. But his high approach shot pushed to the right missing the green. He chipped on to about eight feet but missed the birdie putt. Woods even, +4
