Ben Wysocki is UCLA’s safety net along offensive line

The guy lying in wait on UCLA’s offensive line is Ben Wysocki.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound junior with the Amish-esque beard has spent his UCLA career on alert.

“Ben is steady,” Coach Jim Mora said. “He’s versatile. He can play all the positions along the offensive line. He’s very focused. He got married, had a child. He’s a man now. I can’t call him a kid anymore.”

Wysocki was called on last season against USC. Tackle Caleb Benenoch was ejected from the game. Wysocki entered and handled the right side of the line effectively.

“Ben is always ready,” Mora said. “He’s incredibly smart. He takes a lot of pride in understanding the entire scheme. He’s ready to go in at center, guard or tackle at moment’s notice. He did it last year. He went in play without much practice.”
