Remember when national media outlets predicted UCLA to be a dark-horse candidate for the College Football Playoff? Yeah, me neither.

Sports Illustrated came out with some bowl projections Tuesday, and the magazine predicted that UCLA will play Iowa in the Dec. 30 San Francisco Bowl. The bowl, which is played in Santa Clara’s Levi Stadium despite the name, generally features the No. 4 seed in the Pac-12.

The Bruins are third in the Pac-12 South division, and are clinging to hopes that both Arizona State and Utah lose another game. UCLA would probably need to win its remaining games in order to play in the Pac-12 championship game, which would obviously elevate them past the San Francisco Bowl.
