USC center Max Tuerk questionable for next game at Notre Dame

USC center Max Tuerk suffered a knee sprain during USC’s 17-12 loss to Washington on Thursday night at the Coliseum and his availability for next week’s game at Notre Dame is in question.
Tuerk, a senior who leads the offensive line, was injured in the first quarter and did not return.
Toa Lobendahn moved from right guard to center and Viane Talamaivao played guard.
The Trojans gave up five sacks against a Washington defense that ranked first in the Pac-12 Conference.
Receiver Steven Mitchell suffered an ankle sprain and also left the game. Mitchell caught two passes for three yards.
Defensive lineman Claude Pelon suffered a knee sprain. Pelon has been questionable after suffering a high-ankle sprain during practice this week.
Business or personal?
Washington linebacker Keishawn Bierria said about half the team was recruited by USC Coach Steve Sarkisian and that he loved him, but it was business.
“We’ve been working for this and thinking about this since he left,” Bierria said. “We had to show up and beat SC. That’s always big, but definitely it was personal to a lot of people.”
Madden runs
Senior Tre Madden rushed for 120 yards in 17 carries as the Trojans rushed for 190 yards.
Freshman Ronald Jones II gained 65 yards in eight carries and scored a touchdown. Justin Davis added 31 yards.
Marshall gets
his first
USC cornerback Iman Marshall got his first career interception.
Marshall, a freshman who played at Long Beach Poly High, picked off a pass by quarterback Jake Browning in the first quarter, which helped set up a field goal that gave the Trojans the early lead.
Marshall finished with two tackles.
Marshall moved into the starting lineup after Kevon Seymour suffered a knee injury against Idaho.
Seymour practiced this week, played in the second half and made one tackle.
Whitney starts
Receiver Isaac Whitney started in place of Darreus Rogers, who suffered a hamstring injury against Arizona State and did not suit up for the game.
Whitney caught one pass for four yards.
Two out of three
Washington native Alex Wood kicked two field goals for the Trojans.
Wood, a former walk-on, converted from 34 yards late in the first quarter to give USC a 3-0 lead.
Wood, a junior, also kicked a 21-yard field goal on the final play of the first half to put USC ahead, 6-3.
He missed a 46-yard attempt late in the fourth quarter.
