Several USC assistants stayed close to home Thursday as a 17-day recruiting contact period began.

Defensive line coach Chris Wilson, linebackers coach Peter Sirmon and receivers coach Tee Martin visited defensive lineman Rasheem Green and linebacker John Houston at Gardena Serra High.

“It was really cool talking to the staff at school,” said Green, who will make an official visit to campus this weekend. Houston is also scheduled to visit.

“We talked about what we would do this weekend and who my host might be,” Green said.

Green and Houston are considered USC leans.

Green has visited Oregon and Miami. His last visit will be to Arizona State.

Houston has visited Miami, Oregon, Arizona State and Oklahoma.

Four former Serra players are on USC’s roster, including cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, quarterback Jalen Green, linebacker Olajuwon Tucker and walk-on cornerback Jalen Jones.

USC can sign 19 players and 16 have verbally committed.

Green and Houston are expected to announce their commitments during a Feb. 4 ceremony at Serra.
