USC’s 37-31 loss to Boston College caused the Trojans to drop eight spots to No. 17 in the Associated Press media poll on Sunday.

The previously ninth-ranked Trojans had been 17-point favorites, but the Eagles pulled off the upset and defeated USC for the first time in five games between the schools.

Florida State is ranked No. 1 followed by Oregon, Alabama, Oklahoma and Auburn.

UCLA is ranked No. 12.

USC is ranked No. 21 in the USA Today coaches’ poll.

The Trojans have an open date this week and resume play Sept. 27 against Oregon State.
