Angels sign former Dodgers reliever Javy Guerra to minor league deal

The Angels have signed former Dodgers and Chicago White Sox reliever Javy Guerra to minor league deal with an invitation to big league spring-training camp, General Manager Billy Eppler confirmed on Wednesday.

Guerra, a 30-year-old right-hander, had two strong seasons for the Dodgers in 2011-2012, pitching to a 2.45 earned-run average with 29 saves in 92 games, striking out 75 and walking 41 in 91 2/3 innings.

But he was slowed by knee and shoulder injuries in 2013, pitching to a 6.75 ERA in 10 games and spending the bulk of the season at triple-A Albuquerque.
