The Los Angeles Galaxy’s nine-game unbeaten streak came to an end in stoppage time Saturday night when Didier Drogba scored on a free kick to give the Montreal Impact a 3-2 victory.
In the dying seconds of stoppage time, Drogba scored from 30 yards. Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Rowe missed a punch attempt and the ball spun into the back of the net.
“I just wanted to hit the target, and that's what I did,” said Drogba, who has scored in four consecutive matches. “I was lucky enough that the goalkeeper didn't hold it. These things happen. That's football. That's the game.”
