Invest To Detect Social Security Fraud

The March 14 article "145 Years Old? Social Security Says Yes" [news] reports incredible fraud in the system costing upward of about $3 billion. How could it be possible that our government computers are not sophisticated enough to cross-check birth dates and/or death certificates with benefits? On the next page, the news brief "Syria Aid, $70M" reports that the administration is boosting the amount of money for "non-lethal assistance to moderate Syrian opposition groups." Perhaps we could shave off $1 million or $2 million off that aid and hire some smart folks who can uncover fraud in our Social Security system. Imagine how much we could boost the solvency...
