If it's the plush life you're after for your next hotel stay, check out 42 new hotels that have been awarded five stars by the 2016 Forbes Travel Guide.

The guide on Monday announced awards for five-star, four-star and recommended hotels for those that meet its criteria each year. (You can read up on how hotels are rated here.)

Paris had the most first-timers with nine, followed by Italy with eight.

In the U.S., six new hotels joined the top tier, including Montage Deer Valley in Park City, Utah; and Montage Kapalua Bay in Maui, Hawaii.

In California, 16 hotels retained their five-star status in the 2016 guide.
