Las Vegas: Missed Shania? You can still catch her act (sort of)
Country superstar Shania Twain has just completed her first successful series of concerts in Las Vegas, but you can still catch part of her act — if you don’t mind hearing her hits lip-synced by a drag queen.
The Canadian singer’s doppelgänger is the latest addition to the cast of characters in “Divas Las Vegas,” a nightly drag show at the Quad hotel, the former Imperial Palace, which was rebranded Dec. 21.
A troupe of female impersonators — accompanied by a group of male dancers in cowboy costumes — belt out tunes made famous by 17 women. Besides such favorites as Cher, Janet Jackson and Bette Midler, newer artists such as Beyoncé and Rihanna also are featured.
Andrew Ryan portrays Twain, performing a medley of her top hits, including “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”
Frank Marino, a longtime Vegas headliner who bills himself as the “Queen of the Strip,” emcees the show. He’s known for his Joan Rivers impersonation.
The Divas perform six nights a week at 9:30 p.m. (effective Jan. 1). Ticket prices range from $39 to $79 (plus tax and fees) and are available online or by phone at (888) 777-7664.
The real Shania, by the way, returns March 19 to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
