Stop. Before fall gets away from you the way summer did, check out this 60-second drive through Virginia as its leaves are changing.

I did this drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway between Bedford and Roanoke in late October, so by now, half of the leaves you see in this video are down and disintegrating. But for this golden moment, they festooned the parkway like a million paper lanterns. It was a nice drive.

For an update on where to go and what the leaves are up to now, check this Blue Ridge Parkway Fall Colors Tracker.

“A Minute Away” is a video series in which nothing much happens -- except you see the world, and hear it, and get a respite from workaday life. We’ve covered Machu Picchu, Red Square, the Yucatan, the Alamo, an Alaskan float plane and the reading room of the New York Public Library, among other places. Since early 2013, we’ve been adding a new minute every week (and some of those “minutes” are closer to 120 seconds). So if you’d prefer an hour or two away, we’ve got more than enough here for you…
