The Scorpions plan to rock you like a hurricane in Las Vegas

The Scorpions celebrate their 50th year of rocking hard

Heavy metal rockers the Scorpions celebrate their 50th anniversary with a stop at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel with fellow head bangers Queensryche on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

German band the Scorpions got its start when a very young Rudolf Schenker founded the band in post-war Hannover. Since, the band is known for hits such as “Rock You Like a Hurricane,” “Send Me an Angel,” “Still Loving You” and “Wind of Change.”

Their latest album, “Return to Forever,” was released in February and includes songs such as “We Built This House” that looks back at the band's career and lessons they learned along the way.

The band’s 50th Anniversary World Tour kicks off in May in the Czech Republic.

Their comrades in rock Queensryche first burst onto the scene out of Bellevue, Wash., in 1982 with the release of their self-titled four-song EP "Queensryche." Their biggest hit, “Silent Lucidity,” came out in 1991, winning accolades from the MTV Video Music Awards.

Tickets start at $59.95 and go on sale Friday, March 20.

Tickets: Hard Rock Hotel box office, (702) 693-5000 ext. 6914
