‘State Revenue and Taxation Code, Section 170/Misfortune and Calamity’ sounds arcane, but it can help some L.A. County residents get corrected tax bills or refunds.

Property tax relief will be available to owners of homes or commercial buildings that sustained at least $10,000 in damage in the Sayre fire, L.A. County Assessor Rick Auerbach announced Tuesday.

His department is seeking addresses and information on losses. Owners of manufactured/mobile homes can call (213) 974-3119, option 2, for information. A number for Sylmar/Granada Hills property owners is (818) 833-6173. More information is available through the fire link at the assessor’s website.

Update: Although some mobile homes pay registration fees to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles, at least 90% of the residences in Oakridge Mobile Home Park are on the tax rolls, according to the assessor’s office.
