United States, 2006 – Bush II: Will no one rid me of these meddlesome U.S. Attorneys? And boom, there go eight of them – though not all 93, as the White House had originally discussed.

Henry II atoned for Becket’s murder by having himself flogged in public, naked, at the door of the cathedral in his capital city.

Will Bush Ii atone for the sacking of the U.S. Attorneys by having himself flogged in public, naked, at the door of the National Cathedral? After a few seconds of toying with the image, I vote no. Some people would hope so, but a lot more people would settle for seeing him subpoenaed at the door of the Oval Office.
