Ducks roasted in Boston

This is how bad things have gotten for the Ducks:

Scott Niedermayer got into a tussle late in the second period Thursday at Boston.

Niedermayer, better known for his skating and finesse than for his fisticuffs, got into it with Marc Savard, adding a note of absurdity to a game -- and a season -- fast getting away from the Ducks.

Up until now, I didn’t think the Ducks would trade Niedermayer. I thought that they would deal Chris Pronger but not uproot Niedermayer out of deference to the latter’s career-long excellence. Now, I’m guessing Niedermayer might see a trade as a reprieve from this mess.

Goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere was pulled after allowing the Bruins’ third goal, the seventh time this season that he failed to finish a game he started. After two periods: Bruins 5, Ducks 0. And it got uglier by the second.

The New England Sports Network (NESN) telecast isn’t bad. I’d pay American dollars for one of those Mike Milbury bobblehead dolls that are featured every few minutes. Amazing resemblance to the real Milbury -- and all that nodding explains a lot about his poor record as a general manager. Must have been dizzy most of the time.

Final score, Bruins 6, Ducks 0.
