A new division will begin racing at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. One of the cars that will be in the new division will be unveiled Saturday night at the track.

It is described as a spec division and an economy series that will allow drivers and teams to compete at a reduced cost as compared to the other divisions at the track. It is being created as a stepping stone from the Legends division, traditionally relegated to younger drivers. It is also expected to attract older drivers, or sportsmen drivers, who want to find an affordable and competitive series to race in.

The cars in the new division will run about $25,000. Some of the cars in the NASCAR Super Late Model division, the top tier of racing at the track, can cost as much as $100,000 and more.

The series is expected to start in the second half of the season at Irwindale. The season opened on Saturday night, making June the target date for the debut of the new series.
