Let me start this blog by saying that the story of the fight that broke out between parents at the girls’ volleyball match between Bonita and host San Dimas is far from over.

No official from either school would comment on the fight -- calls and e-mails to both schools seeking a comment were not returned -- instead they left their dirty business for officials from the Bonita Unified School District to sort out.

Obviously, something happened. The photo on the right, taken by a staff photographer for the SGVT and posted on their preps blog (photo credit: The SGVT), shows something was going on in the stands.

Speaking on behalf of the school district, William Brinegar, assistant superintendent of human resources, said the district was ‘disappointed the incident between the parents took place.’

‘We appreciate that the staff acted quickly and escorted both people out,’ he added.

The match ended with Bonita beating San Dimas in five games. Both teams are ranked in the Southern Section Division III-A girls volleyball poll, where Bonita is No. 4 and San Dimas is No. 7 .

The teams won’t face each other again during the regular season, but the schools’ football teams will face each other on Oct. 5, also at San Dimas. Brinegar said the district will review the situation and decide if certain changes need to be made. He said the district wants ‘to make sure everyone has a positive experience.’

Brinegar added that the district has reviewed the incident at the volleyball match and has heard opinions as to what did and did not happen, but he wouldn’t say if there were any sanctions given to either school.

‘Some of the things [being said to have occurred] are a little exaggerated,’ he said. ‘Obviously a regrettable incident took place. As far as the details of what precipitated it, and what the results will be, we just won’t comment on it.’
