I haven’t had the chance to see many girl’s basketball games this season.

But Thursday’s City Championship Division first-round game between host Fairfax and Crenshaw spoke to me. I wondered if the fourth-seeded Lions were as good as their 24-7 record. Or if the 13th-seeded Cougars were playoff-ready after playing only 18 regular-season games, good for a 13-5 record.

Fairfax’s 28-21 halftime lead hasn’t been totally revealing. Both teams are running, using full-court pressure, and taking quick shots -- whether or not the shooter is open.

One thing: Crenshaw is having more trouble with the Fairfax pressure than the other way around.
If the Cougars don’t figure out something fast, I can see Fairfax blowing the game open by late in the third quarter.
