Of all the stellar defenders on Notre Dame this past season, the one who stood out the most as far as I was concerned was junior linebacker Jordan Barrett.

Granted, I only attended three Notre Dame football games last fall, but every time I saw Barrett play, the kid put on a tackling clinic. was more impressed with him than I was with Wes Horton or Anthony McDonald (although I’ll admit Horton and McDonald had better seasons, overall).

So, it’s good to hear Barrett picked up his first college offer on Tuesday when University of Notre Dame special teams coach Brian Polian told the 6-foot-3, 228-pounder the Irish wanted him to play at inside linebacker.

While I wouldn’t be surprised if Barrett follows former teammates Dayne Crist and McDonald to South Bend, I’m sure he’ll get at least a few more offers over the next few months. USC, UCLA, Georgia Tech, California, Boston College, Wake Forest and Virigina are all interested in him.
