San Gabriel Gabrielino senior Angel Cabral may be struggling a bit against the rest of the Southern Section, but he has been pretty amazing when pitching against Mission Valley League rivals the last two seasons.

Cabral (2-3) threw a four-hitter on Friday night, helping the Eagles (5-4, 3-0) claim an 11-0 victory at winless El Monte Mountain View. It was the sixth consecutive complete-game shutout against league opponents for Cabral, who has thrown 43 straight innings in league play without giving up a run.

Last year, he was 6-0 against league opponents (8-1 overall), shutting down South El Monte, 9-0, on April 18 to start the shutout streak. He’s 2-0 in league play so far this season. The last time a league opponent scored on Cabral was April 6, 2007, when Mountain View picked up two runs in the third inning of a 14-4 Gabrielino victory.
