Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway returned to his alma mater, Granada Hills, Monday night for the taping of a new ESPN series, ‘Homecoming,’ and the current Granada Hills quarterback, Joe Moulton, asked Elway how to help his team bounce back from a tough defeat.

It surprised Elway that last week, Granada Hills lost to Birmingham, 64-8.

‘Birmingham must be taking it out on you guys because that’s how much we beat them,’ he told Moulton.

Update: Birmingham Athletic Director Rick Prizant takes exception to Elway’s comment about beating up on Birmingham. He said Birmingham lost to Granada Hills, 48-12, in 1977 and 35-0 in 1978.

‘He’s inflated those scores as much as his reputation,’ Prizant said.
