Coming off an upset victory over Reseda Cleveland on Saturday, surprising Sylmar (16-8, 8-1) has pulled into a first-place tie with San Fernando in the Valley Mission League after knocking off the Tigers, 6-4, on Monday.

‘The kids are playing well as a team,’ Coach Ray Rivera said. ‘It’s a group effort.’

Third baseman Joel Reyes has been supplying the RBIs, and all-league first baseman Robert Ruiz continues to be a dependable hitter.

San Fernando and Sylmar play again Wednesday at Sylmar.
