Football: Lakewood takes early lead

Lakewood’s Darius Powe returned a punt 36 yards to the Bishop Amat six-yard line and would have scored a touchdown had he not tripped over his own teammate.

The Lancers scored on third-and-goal when quarterback Jesse Scroggins connected with Alley Long on a six-yard touchdown pass, but the extra point was no good. Lakewood leads 6-0 midway through the first quarter.
