There have been only two head coaches of the boys’ basketball program since Palisades opened in 1961 _ Jerry Marvin and James Paleno.

Paleno, the head coach since 1992, confirmed on Monday that he has resigned, citing ‘lack of administrative support and a changing culture’ at the charter school.

It’s the second high-profile resignation at Palisades. Volleyball Coach Randy Stoklos announced his resignation on Saturday following the Dolphins’ loss in the City Division I final.

Paleno, who will remain a teacher at the school, didn’t hold back on his criticism, saying, ‘I don’t like the way they treat people at that school.’
