The 25-year-old Century City Shopping Center is undergoing an $8-million face lift, according to Rosenberg Real Estate Equity Fund, a San Francisco-based pension fund adviser which purchased the center in the late spring of 1983.

Field/Gruzen Associates of San Francisco, was retained to do the initial design. The first phase of the project was started nine months ago with an upgrading of the parking garage that included painting, new graphics throughout and re-striping of all parking spaces.

Construction has begun on the first of four two-story, steel skylight structures and renovation of existing buildings; plans calls for a semi-circular permanent stage and an additional 30 shops and restaurants. The Edward Plant Co. Inc. is the on-site leasing agent.
