A l7-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department has been arrested at the Reseda police station and turned over to Ventura County sheriff’s detectives on suspicion of molesting a Camarillo girl, police said Friday.

Stanley E. Parker, 39, a patrol officer who has handled Neighborhood Watch assignments while assigned to the community relations section of the West Valley Division, was arrested by Los Angeles police internal affairs officers Thursday, said William Booth, spokesman for the department.

Parker was arrested after Ventura authorities obtained a warrant. Sheriff’s officials said the girl’s mother notified them last week of the alleged incidents, which reportedly occurred over a period of years.

Lt. Larry Weimer, head of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department major crimes detail, said Parker was booked at the Ventura County Jail and released on $10,000 bond.

Weimer described the alleged victim as being in her early teens. He said the incidents allegedly occurred while Parker, a Camarillo resident, was off duty.

Weimer said both his department and the Los Angeles Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division are investigating the alleged incidents.

Booth said Parker checked himself into a hospital after his release from jail and did not report for duty Friday. He said departmental action in the case will be determined after Parker is arraigned Thursday in Ventura County Superior Court.
