A 21-year-old Navy man was killed Tuesday when he was struck by a car while walking along the roadside on the Navy Submarine Base on Point Loma. Chief Petty Officer John Corbett reported that Scott Reynolds, of Waldron, Ind., an electrician’s mate-fireman aboard the submarine tender McKee, was stuck by a car driven by Electronics Technician 3rd Class Joseph Simons at 1:30 a.m. Reynolds was taken to Sharp Cabrillo Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Reynolds had served 3 1/2 years in the Navy. The incident was under investigation by base security, Corbett said.
