A 6-month-old girl was near death, despite a hospital life-support machine, after being brutally beaten and smashed to the floor in South-Central Los Angeles, police said. Lauren Broussard was rushed to Martin Luther King General Hospital by Fire Department paramedics after a frantic call from her mother, Mira Batson, 20, police said. According to Lt. Connie Castruita of the Police Department’s Child Abuse Unit, the child’s father, Louis Broussard, is being sought for investigation of attempted murder. During a family dispute, Broussard grabbed the baby from a bed, struck her on the head with a violent blow with his hand and deliberately threw her down, police allege.
