A broken sewer line dumped 100 gallons of raw sewage into Santa Barbara Cove in Mission Bay Wednesday. As a result, county health officials have closed the contaminated area to swimming and direct-contact water sports.
The quarantine stretches 100 yards on each side of Isthmus Court within the cove. Officials say the quarantine will last at least a week.
City water technicians were working on a water line in the cove between the Bahia Hotel and the Mission Bay Yacht Club when a worker fractured a nearby sewage line, sending the waste into the cove.
