Two teen-age sisters were found stabbed to death in their home in the Linda Vista area of San Diego early Friday, and their 13-year-old brother was discovered with multiple stab wounds in a separate part of the house, according to a San Diego police homicide spokesman.

Found dead at the scene were Tina Marie Cvengros, 18, and Lori Ann Cvengros, 15. Both girls suffered numerous stab wounds to the back, a county coroner’s spokesman said.

The girls’ brother, David, 13, was found conscious by his mother with five stab wounds to the chest and back, according to Lt. Paul Ybarrondo, homicide spokesman. David Cvengros was reported in good condition Friday at Children’s Hospital.

Tina Cvengros’ 2-year-old daughter, Christina, was found unharmed in a third bedroom of the house, Ybarrondo said.

The bodies were discovered about 5:35 a.m. Friday by Clarinda Pearl Cvengros, the children’s mother, who had returned to her home after being out for the night.

Detectives found a kitchen butcher knife on the bed where David Cvengros was found, and a similar knife in the bedroom where the two girls were discovered. Detectives said they believed the murders were committed about 4:30 a.m.

Ybarrondo said blood was found throughout the house. He added that there was no evidence of forced entry to the home and that nothing was stolen.

Lori Cvengros was enrolled in a science and engineering magnet program at San Diego’s Morse High School where the sophomore was an honor student and a member of the school’s cross-country and track teams, according to Norm Kellner, vice principal.
