Snow Chief to Skip Belmont

CHERRY HILL, N.J. —
Snow Chief suffered “a bump on his right front ankle” during or after his victory Monday in the Jersey Derby and will skip the June 7 Belmont Stakes, his trainer said today. His injury was not serious, but the trainer said the colt’s owners didn’t want to take any chances with the Preakness winner. Snow Chief will be shipped back to California for a rest.
