Assessors from 42 California counties endorsed Los Angeles County Assessor Alexander Pope in his campaign for the state Board of Equalization. Stanislaus County Assessor Dave Triplett, president of the California Assessors’ Assn., told a Los Angeles press conference that Pope is the best qualified candidate in the 4th District, which includes most of Los Angeles County. Among those endorsing Pope were the assessors of San Francisco, Kern, Ventura, San Bernardino and San Diego counties. Pope is seeking the Democratic nomination against several candidates, including state Sen. Paul Carpenter (D-Norwalk) and former state Sen. Nate Holden (D-Los Angeles.)
