Tustin : Corona del Mar Man’s Body Found in Cadillac

Share

The body of a Corona del Mar man was found slumped at the wheel of a Cadillac behind a Tustin restaurant Sunday morning, police said.

Employees were just opening Mimi’s Cafe on East 17th Street about 6 a.m. when they saw the man, identified by police as Charles George Romanus, 55, inside the car. They called police, who found that Romanus had suffered “what appeared to be head wounds, and was obviously dead,” Lt. Frank Semelsberger said. Police are treating the case as a homicide, but they would not say if the head injuries were bullet wounds or were caused by some other type of weapon.

An autopsy was performed Sunday, but homicide investigators were not yet releasing the results, Tustin Police Sgt. Mark Bergquist said.

The manager of the restaurant, located just off the Costa Mesa Freeway, would not comment on the case.
