Community College Roundup : Penner Paces Golden West in Soccer, 4-3

Pat Penner scored three goals to help Golden West College defeat Riverside, 4-2, in a nonconference men’s soccer game at Riverside.

Penner, a sophomore, has scored 10 goals in four games and is on his way to surpassing his freshman total of 25 goals. Robert Howerton scored Golden West’s other goal.

In nonconference soccer action:

Long Beach 4, Cypress 2--Cypress received both its goals at Long Beach on successful penalty kicks by Cale Coelho Jr.

San Diego City 4, Orange Coast 2--Glen Shaw scored both of Orange Coast’s goals in this nonconference match at San Diego. OCC is 1-3.

In South Coast Conference water polo action:

Golden West 21, Mt. San Antonio 6--Golden West (1-0, 5-1) was led by Alan Buchanan and Jason Jeffries, who each scored five goals at Golden West.

In Orange Empire Conference water polo action:

Rancho Santiago 19, Cypress 9--Rancho Santiago (1-0, 7-0) was led by Darin Haskins and Troy Simington who each scored four goals. Cypress is 0-1 in conference, 1-4 overall.
