Scott Barrick threw for 367 yards and three touchdowns in three quarters of work to key a 55-6 Fallbrook (8-2-1) win over Madison (7-4-0) in the first round of the San Diego Section 3-A championships. Next Friday, Fallbrook will play Sweetwater, which had a bye in the first round.
Barrick, who completed 16 of 26 passes, threw two of his touchdown passes to receiver Bill Dunckel and the third to Gary Nelson. Dunckel caught 6 passes for 197 yards. Ty Barksdale ran for three more Fallbrook touchdowns, once from 23 yards and twice from the 1.
With Fallbrook leading 48-0 after three quarters, Coach Tom Pack replaced Barrick with Mike Turiache, who passed to Eric Davison for a touchdown. Fallbrook also scored a touchdown when Marco Flores picked up a blocked punt and ran it in for a score.
