Hungarians Protest Over Airport Noise
Police had to restore order when a crowd stormed a meeting in Budapest called to discuss noise from the city’s airport, Budapest radio said.
The crowd burst into the movie theater where the meeting was being held, overturning a barricade of chairs, according to the radio report Tuesday. It did not mention arrests or injuries.
Airport managers and Transport Ministry officials had invited about 200 residents living near Ferihegy Airport to discuss the noise problem.
But nearly 600 turned up, and organizers set up the barricade, saying only people with invitations could enter. A radio reporter described the crowd’s mood as boiling as it forced its way into the theater.
