Pinola lobbied for his B of A takeover plan in S. F.

First Interstate’s chairman and chief executive, Joseph J. Pinola, visited San Francisco civic leaders and newspapers to lobby for his plan to acquire San Francisco-based BankAmerica. Pinola stressed that the merged bank would operate under the name Bank of America and have headquarters in San Francisco. The combined bank’s holding company, however, would be based in Los Angeles.
